Patrik Persson is holding the position as 6G program manager director at Ericsson Research. Patrik has been involved in different areas including concept development for advanced antenna systems (AAS), 3GPP RAN standardization (4G and 5G), and proprietary evolution of LTE. Patrik holds a Ph.D. in electrical engineering from the Royal Institute of Technology (KTH), Stockholm, Sweden.
The future networks must tackle numerous societal challenges including resilience and sustainability while also supporting new and evolved use cases and capabilities, as well as the traffic increase. The presentation will share a brief overview of key areas being address in the later phase of the 5G standardization (5G Adv) to set the scene before putting the focus on 6G. The presentation on 6G will highlight some key drivers and use cases before addressing key 6G principles also including how to migrate from 5G. The presentation will show some key technology components in a 6G system both from a radio access point of view as well as the architecture, also the platform perspective will be addressed. At the end some proof points shown by Ericsson will be highlighted.
