The Spectrum Working Group within the Bharat 6G Alliance has been diligently analyzing global trends in spectrum management for 5G Advanced and 6G, particularly considering key outcomes from the World Radiocommunication Conference 2023 (WRC-23) and looking ahead to the pivotal decisions to be made at WRC-27, which will focus on IMT-2030. This report builds on the 6G Taskforce Report on Spectrum, first published in March 2023, and provides an updated view of the current spectrum landscape in India. It examines: The state of 5G technology in India, The current spectrum situation, and The global shifts in spectrum allocation for next-generation networks. More importantly, this report offers high-level recommendations for a India-centric approach to the spectrum roadmap for 6G, which will serve as the foundation for enabling policy frameworks that will foster the country's leadership in 6G.
Recognizing the pivotal role that applications will play in shaping both the technical design and commercial potential of 6G, the Bharat 6G Alliance has formed a dedicated Working Group on Applications. The purpose of this Working Group is to ensure that India not only adopts 6G technology but also fully maximizes the benefits of these emerging innovations, positioning the country as a global leader in the 6G era. Today, we are excited to unveil the Applications Working Group Report, which highlights the wide range of applications enabled by 6G technologies and the new possibilities they unlock for industries, enterprises, and consumers alike. This report provides a comprehensive roadmap that outlines: Key short-term and long-term deliverables to accelerate the development of 6G applications, Strategies for testing and optimizing these applications, and A pathway for their successful commercial deployment, ensuring that India harnesses the full potential of 6G technology.
While the transition to 6G technology promises groundbreaking advances in speed, connectivity, and functionality, it also brings significant environmental challenges. As the telecom infrastructure expands, we must confront issues such as increased greenhouse gas emissions, electronic waste, and resource depletion. Today, we are proud to present the Bharat 6G Alliance’s (B6GA) Sustainability Report, a visionary document that places sustainability at the heart of India’s 6G network development. This report offers a comprehensive analysis of how we can achieve technological leadership while ensuring environmental responsibility. At the core of this vision is the integration of: Renewable energy sources to power telecom infrastructure, Energy-efficient technologies to reduce our carbon footprint, And a commitment to aligning India’s 6G advancements with its climate goals, including achieving net-zero emissions by 2070. The report also addresses the critical issue of reducing Scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions across the telecom value chain, with a particular focus on the challenges and opportunities around Scope 3 emissions, which involve suppliers and consumers.
6G Use Cases and Revenue Streams Report, a comprehensive document that lays out the vision for how 6G technology will transform India’s future. This working group of Bharat 6G Alliance has worked tirelessly to develop a strategic roadmap that will serve as a guiding document for researchers, industry leaders, and policymakers alike. This report provides India-centric recommendations for leveraging 6G and emerging technologies to drive societal and economic growth while positioning India as a global leader in the 6G landscape. The scope of this document includes key elements that will shape the future of 6G in India: Identifying use cases that have the potential to bring about societal and economic transformation through 6G, Exploring tailored solutions for both enterprise and retail telecom customers, Proposing monetization strategies for these use cases to ensure commercial success, Offering recommendations for Central and State Governments as well as industry players to establish India as a leader in 6G innovation. Furthermore, the report provides a high-level view of the technological requirements needed to support these use cases in the coming years, and outlines necessary policy and regulatory actions to ensure the successful rollout and adoption of 6G in India.
